Miami, FL \u2013 On May 8, 2022, as the world waited anxiously for the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade<\/em><\/a> to drop, anonymous vandals<\/a> smashed in the window of the Wisconsin Family Action building in Madison, Wisconsin and set the building ablaze. On the wall of the building, they scrawled the message, \u201cIf abortions aren\u2019t safe then you aren\u2019t either.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis was only a warning,\u201d<\/strong> wrote the attackers in an anonymous communique<\/a> sent to journalist Robert Evans<\/a>. \u201cWe demand the disbanding of all anti-choice establishments, fake clinics, and violent anti-choice groups within the next thirty days.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The arson and communique sent shock waves through the country and inspired a coast-to-coast campaign of more than 20 acts of sabotage and vandalism<\/a> on the infrastructure of the anti-abortion movement \u2014 mostly against so-called \u201ccrisis pregnancy centers<\/a>\u201d (CPCs) and churches involved in anti-abortion activism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n More than nine months later, the federal government has announced the first prosecutions of Jane\u2019s Revenge vandals. But the two indicted on federal charges aren\u2019t accused of burning down any buildings, or even smashing any windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n They\u2019re accused of graffiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Caleb Freestone and Amber Smith-Stewart, two community organizers in Florida, have been charged with one count each of Conspiracy Against Rights<\/a> and two counts each of Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances<\/a>, a law designed to prevent the blockading of abortion clinic entrances and the intimidation of those seeking abortions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The indictment<\/a> alleges that on May 28<\/a>, June 26<\/a>, and July 3<\/a>, 2022 the pair spray painted slogans on the outside of three anti-choice centers reading, \u201cIf abortions aren\u2019t safe niether are you\u201d<\/strong> [sic], \u201cYour time is up!! We\u2019re coming for U\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cWe are everywhere.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
